Best Baby Feeding Gear
There are so many baby feeding products out there that it’s hard to know what you might actually need or use on a regular basis. Here are some things I would recommend getting:
Comotomo Bottles – These bottles are made of safe silicone and ideal for breastfed babies. Their nipple design helps reduce nipple confusion, and also features anti-colic vents. They come in pink or green, and can be used in the microwave and dishwasher. We breast and bottle fed my son so it was important to find a bottle to fit his needs without creating more reflux issues.
Bamboo baby feeding dishes from Avanchy are perfect because bamboo is 100% safe – hypoallergenic, non-toxic, earth-friendly, BPA, and phalate free. They come in a variety of colors with a silicone ring at the base that suctions the plate or bowl down. You do have to wash them by hand though. My son loved their baby utensils as well.
Boon Lawn countertop drying rack – This is a great way to keep all your baby feeding pieces organized and out of the way. We have one for our bottle parts, straw sippy cups, snack bowls, etc., so they’re always in easy reach when we need them.
I have the Ingenuity 3-in-1 Smart Clean High Chair, as well as the Ingenuity Booster/Feeding Floor seat. I love the high chair because it converts from a high chair to a booster to a toddler seat. It has a BPA-free tray that is dishwasher safe and the foam seat pad easily wipes clean. The Ingenuity Booster and Feeding Floor Seat is perfect because it is so portable. Baby can sit with you at the table for meal times or you can use it as a floor seat for play time. It features a wipeable seat and a dishwasher-safe removable tray that stores under the booster. My little guy was a super messy eater and I didn’t need to add any more fabric to put in the laundry than what I already had.
Best Breastfeeding Gear
Breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy. There are a lot of things you’ll need to help make your journey with breastfeeding go as smoothly as possible! I’ll go more in depth on breastfeeding must-haves and tips in another post. For now, here are the basic items.
- The Boppy Pillow – Yes, this pillow might look like something your grandma would use to rest her arms when she knits but trust me if you are breastfeeding then this is a must-have. It will help you get your baby latched on correctly and give them the right support as they eat. This is especially important if your baby has reflux as you’ll want to make sure that their head stays elevated. The Boppy Pillow can be used for breastfeeding, bottle feeding and tummy time.
- Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags – These bags are great for freezing and storing breast milk. Just lay them flat after filling, label them with a sharpie, and toss them in the freezer. No need to worry about spills or leaks!
- Bamboobies Nursing Pads – These pads are made with organic bamboo, which is super soft and comfortable. You can wash them with your regular laundry and they dry super quick.
- Medela Quick Clean Breast Pump Wipes – These wipes are great for quickly wiping down your pump parts before and after using them. They’re also useful when you need to clean off any spills or leaks that happen around the house!
- Breast Pump – Unfortunately not all boobs are created equal and everyone’s breasts will respond different to certain pumps. I chose to have multiple pumps that I used for different reasons. I used a portable Spectra and a Haakaa with my first child. Then I bought the hands-free Elvie wearables with my second. The Elvie pumps are the absolute best invention ever!
Best On-the-Go Gear
If you’re planning to take your little one out and about often, here are some things that can make life easier:
Itzy Ritzy Boss Diaper Backpack – This bag has 17 pockets. Ten of the pockets are inside and seven are outside. The outside pockets can be used to keep things like bottles cold or hot. One of the outside pockets is insulated and keeps bottles cool or warm. The top zipper for the main compartment is easy to open and allows quick access to your baby’s essentials. There are rubber feet on the bottom that give enough structure so that it stands up by itself. This awesome bag wipes clean with a damp cloth. It also has a stroller strap and a changing mat. The mat has cute “head and toes” detailing on it. The Itzy Ritzy Boss Backpack Diaper Bag is an absolute must have for new moms!
Baby Carriers – The Moby Wrap Baby Carrier is a wrap-style carrier allows you to wear your baby in several different positions while freeing up your hands to accomplish other tasks while simultaneously comforting and soothing the baby. The Moby Wrap is perfect for newborns because its design allows them to be held in the natural “M” position (legs up), which helps their little hips develop properly. It’s also great for breastfeeding on the go. The Lillebaby Carrier comes highly recommended because it is very comfortable, lightweight and compact. It also has a variety of different carrying positions for your growing child making it one of the most versatile carriers out there on the market today.
Uppababy Vista Stroller
My number one FAVORITE baby product of all time is my stroller. I searched long and hard to find something that was quality and suited my needs. Enter – Uppababy Vista Stroller. This bad boy has over 12 different configurations. It’s perfect for mamas who are planning on having multiple kids because it easily converts to a double stroller. It includes:
I could go on and on about this stroller, especially when it comes to all of the accessories you can add to it. The bassinet has a stand available that you can put your little babe in at night right next to your bed. The whole Uppababy Stroller system may be a little on the pricier side, but it is 1000% worth it.
Best Diapering Gear
There are TONS of diaper gear products out there for every baby. I’ve tried a lot, but here are some that stood out the most
Ubbi Diaper Pail – This thing is amazing and what all moms should invest in. It locks in the stench so you don’t have to hold your breath every time you open it! It’s also great because you don’t have to buy any special bags for it, just regular trash bags.
OXO Tot Perfect Pull Wipes Dispenser – This container makes it super easy to pull out wipes using one hand. The lid opens with a simple push and the wipes dispense one at a time.
Honest Diapers – Great for absorbency and eco-friendly!
Water Wipes – I’ve tried both Huggies and Pampers brand wipes, but these are my favorites because they’re thicker for easy cleanups. They also don’t have any scents or chemicals in them so it’s super gentle on baby’s skin.
Best Baby Health Gear
NoseFrida – This is a great alternative to the old-fashioned bulb syringe that everyone uses. It’s more hygienic and doesn’t have any suction problems like regular bulbs do.
Fridababy Humidifier – Humidifiers are used to help keep the air in baby’s room moist and easier to breathe through. Babies who have a stuffy nose or dry skin will benefit from this. It’s 3-in-1 used as a humidifier, diffuser, and LED nightlight. It’s easy to clean, quiet, and powerful.
Braun Digital Thermometer – This thermometer is super easy to use and provides fast, accurate results.
Best Baby Sleep Gear
The Halo Sleepsack is a must have baby gear item. Swaddling blankets will help your newborn sleep better at night and keep their little hands secure from the startle reflex! If you are having trouble with your baby sleeping through the night, then getting some of these swaddles will help them sleep longer since it mimics the feeling of being in the womb.
Hatch Sound Machine – A sound machine is an excellent baby product for new moms because it can help your little one sleep better. Babies are used to the sounds of the womb, so they will usually need some noise in order to fall asleep or stay calm during nap time. The Hatch Sound Machine was one that we used for our daughter and it is the best sound machine I’ve come across, especially since it can be controlled from your phone. It has all sorts of different sounds like white noise, nature sounds, lullabies, etc. It has a night light and time-to-rise feature, which is perfect for when you’re in the room with them or if they wake up before you do!
